A sequestered disc is one that has degenerated significantly due to vertebral misalignment and incorrect vertebral movement. The vertebra above and vertebra below must move properly in order not to deteriorate.

Unfortunately, when the vertebrae move incorrectly, the joint deteriorates quickly and the poor movement and deterioration of the spinal joints cause the disc to become thin and then, if it is not repaired, will herniate and possibly become sequestered.

It is important to know that a sequestered disc is a serious matter…thankfully it can still be helped without surgery. As previously mentioned, spinal surgery has a very high 5-year failure rate.

We strongly recommend that if someone has a sequestered disc, they investigate all options before considering surgery.
